How do you say NO to the next overtime shift?
How do you say YES, I need a break
How do you say YES to what you need? Do you even know what you need?
Service and care provider burnout is at an all time high. The past year of the pandemic has only worsened an already crisis situation in healthcare. Constant demands, staffing shortages, a never ending stream of acutely ill patients makes it REALLY hard to stay hopeful and healthy. Recent stats from health surveys done across Canada indicate that the impact of the pandemic has affected many people’s livelihoods, health and well-being, especially women, single parents, healthcare workers and small business owners (from Morneau Shepell, Blue Cross and BC Women’s Health Centre surveys)
63% identified being at risk for anxiety and 71% at risk of burnout
leave work feeling mentally and physically exhausted
have trouble getting through difficult times without great stress
52% have fair to poor mental health vs 19% pre-Covid
80% BC's health workforce is women-they are exposed to increased risks, stress, burnout and depression AND serve as primary caregivers for children and elderly parents
women reported more mental health concerns throughout the pandemic
