40 Days of a pathway to peace

As we completed our last 40 -Day Meditation focusing CULTIVATING CALM THROUGH THE CHAOS, we deepened into the notion that we have agency to create calm in our being, in our environment and know that it ripples outwards in ways unbeknownst to us. As there continues to be uncertainty, chaos and injustice across our beautiful world, every day, every way is about our own way of being to cultivate a peace-filled mindset and way of being.

I had the privilege of meeting Dr Frank James, a friend of Kathy C. who is a practitioner with us on the mat. The three of of met and discussed all things meditation, peace, buddhist tenets, world travel and more. He mentioned a book called ‘Peace is Every Step’ and it was then that I thought it would be helpful to spend 40 days designing a pathway to peace.

Many of you have reached out to me and to others in our hopeful community to continue to meet as a community for support, hope and strength. As a result, we are going to focus the 40-Day practice to finding ways to forge a pathway to peace with another wee book of practices despite the uncertainty around us.

How do we navigate the overall unruliness of life, so filled as it is with urgencies—tasks left undone, friends who need help, health problems, financial pressures, family crises, community crises, world crises? How do we sustain ourselves, our sanity, our open hearts and clear vision in the face of these ongoing challenges?

The past few years have focused on gratitude, hope, grace, flourishing, joy, unconditional love and calm. This practice will focus on a pathway to peace throughout the 40 days, as we gather together in our hopeful community and practice each day with intention, and learn, support and share with and for each other. Peace is Every Step.

A meditation practice one of the best prescriptions for human flourishing, health, unconditional love and equanimity.

We have a beautifully designed system in our bodies called the Renewal Response. This is our antidote to the Stress Response. The renewal response is both activated by love and activates love. AND it takes intention and attention. A peaceful presence begins with awareness, being with, and noticing your internal experience so that you can mount a healthy response to conflict or angst, and lead with acts of love and compassion. The ripple effect from your own response has significant impact on those around you, and who knows how much farther.

Join us from the comfort of your own home for Kundalini Meditation Practice. For those new and experienced with Kundalini Yoga, adopting a daily meditation helps to cultivate inner strength and joy. It helps establish inner peace and a state of flow and ease in your life. Open to anyone who wishes to be part of a community to be supported in their spiritual and conscious journey.

What will we do?

Each 30 minute practice begins with a tuning in mantra followed by 5 minutes of gentle yoga stretches, movement, breathwork and postures. The meditation will be 11 minutes. We end with a savasana and closing blessing.

Kundalini yoga is a powerful technology that is intended for everyone of all shapes, sizes and walks of life. Known as the yoga of awareness, each morning incorporates movement and postures, as well as breath work, relaxation and meditation. The combination of repetitive movement, breathing and relaxing helps to exercise our ‘ nervous system’ making us more resilient and energized to deal with the day to day stressors of life.

What’s included:

  • Daily Meditation practice via Zoom

  • Educational tidbit each morning and in the follow-up daily (most days) email

  • Closing affirmation each session: quote, poem or passage that deepens the experience

  • Peaceful and soothing music

  • Coffee Chat on the Mat on Saturday mornings after practice 7:00-7:30 am PST.

  • Practice video to use on the mornings we may not be able to meet or connect

  • Experienced teaching led by Dori Howard, certified Kundalini yoga teacher, former nurse, coach, facilitator

  • Daily (most days) follow-up email sent to your inbox with the quote/blessing of the day and connection to the practice and with you.

what to bring

Create your own sacred space in your home with candles, incense, momentos, diffuser, etc. Lay out your mat, bring a shawl or blanket, light some candles, make yourself some tea and come to the mat ready for your journey inward.  

Writing and Wisdom Circle

For this 40 Day meditation, we are also adding an optional writing circle. We gather for 30 minutes after meditation Monday-Friday to write, share and connect. We end the 40 day circle with our Story Salon where we have the opportunity to share a piece of our writing.
